Hybrid fruit
Hybrid fruits are created by genetically crossing several types of fruit . The hybrids are grown using plant reproduction methods in order to either get a completely new type of fruit or to improve or change the properties of a fruit. They only arise through breeding after several generations ( variety formation ).
Examples are Pluot ( Chinese plum , apricot ), Minneola ( grapefruit and tangerine ).
