Guanidinium hydrochloride as an example of a hydrohalide
Hydrohalide is a collective term for the organic chemical substance class of the hydrofluorides , hydrochlorides , hydrobromides and hydroiodides . Hydrohalides are hydrohalic acid salts of basic organic compounds. Hydrohalides are formed, for example, during the reaction of amines , basic amino acids , amino acid esters and alkaloids with hydrogen halide or hydrogen halide acids . Numerous common drugs with basic functional groups are used as hydrohalides.
