Hydrometeorological Service

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The hydrometeorological service is a combination of two geoscientific tasks, the hydrographic service (water-related measurements) and the weather service (meteorological measurements).

State hydrometeorological services are mainly used in the old Eastern Bloc countries , where this combination has a long tradition. In other countries, hydrography is mostly associated with environmental or water management agendas, and meteorological offices are operated on their own.
