HylaFAX is a free fax solution for Unix- like operating systems. It uses a client-server model and allows faxes to be sent and received from different platforms.
Hylafax supports several serial modems (analog and ISDN ) as well as internal modem cards, but not directly ISDN cards . These can only be operated via a CAPI interface and with the additional, also free capi4hylafax .
Client software is available for macOS , Windows and Linux as well as a web frontend .
As of 2005, there was a spin-off called Hylafax + that was ahead of the original in some environments. The current version 6.0 of HylaFAX integrates some of the enhancements ( e.g. IPv6 support).
