The muscles of the hypothenar can be seen on the right ( ulnar ).

The hypothenar is a muscle bead in the region of the palm side of the metacarpal on the Kleinfinger- or ulnar side ( ulnar ). It serves as a protective cushion for the nerves ( ulnar nerve ) and vessels running there . The muscular basis of the hypothenar are the abductor digiti minimi muscle , the flexor digiti minimi brevis muscle and the opponens digiti minimi muscle . The muscles of the hypothenar, as well as its sensitive parts, are innervated by the deep branch ( ramus profundus ) of the ulnar nerve.

On the side of the thumb, the thenar lies opposite the hypothenar , with which it forms a cushion when gripping objects.
