Hystanes
Hystanes (Greek; Babylon .: Uštanu ) was the successor of the Gobryas Persian satrap of Babylon and the Transeuphratene under Darius I. He is from cuneiform sources for the period between 521 and 516 BC. Chr. Attested. He felt for the Transeuphratene (at least temporarily) of the well of biblical texts known Tattenai subordinate. Whether the governor Hystanes is identical with the person named in Herodotus VII, 77 must remain open.
