The IGT Information Society mbH ( "IGT-publishing") is a technical specialist publisher. The publisher is currently publishing the specialist journal "mo - Magazin für Oberflächentechnik" with its online portal.
history
IGT Informationsgesellschaft Technik mbH was founded in 1995 by Lothar Zobel. With the acquisition of the "Protector", now called " Protector & Wik - Sicherheitstechnik & Wirtschaftsschutz " (spelling: PROTECTOR & WIK ), from the local branch of the WEKA publishing group , the company concentrated on the Publishing activity and publication of specialist magazines.
In 2004, IGT bought the specialist magazine "mo - Metalloberfläche", now known as "mo - Magazine for surface technology", from Carl Hanser Verlag in Munich . With topics from surface treatment, mo is aimed at decision-makers in production from a wide variety of areas of industry, e.g. B. Mechanical engineering, vehicle construction, chemical and plastics processing industry as well as electrical engineering and electronics.
"W & S - Das Sicherheitsmagazin" was bought two years later, in 2006. As with Protector & Wik, the focus of this title is in the security industry, but in the area of security management and economic protection. Finally, in 2009, the Protector & Wik online portal for all aspects of security was launched with Sicherheit.info.
IGT took over the magazine "Mechatronik" (spelling: MECHATRONIK) in 2010, also from Carl Hanser Verlag . It is aimed specifically at specialists from the fields of mechanical engineering, automation technology, the automotive industry and device construction.
In March 2012, the publisher, in cooperation with the BVSW (“Bavarian Association for Security in Business”), organized the “Security Summit of German Business”, which has taken place every year since then. The event serves the exchange on topics of security in business, science, politics, police and technology.
In 2013 the specialist magazine “W & S” was incorporated into the “Protector & Wik” magazine. Since then, Protector & Wik has appeared as a comprehensive trade journal for security with the subtitle "Security Technology & Economic Protection".
Also in 2013, the Protector Award for security technology from IGT Verlag was presented for the first time to honor providers of security technology solutions.
At the beginning of 2016 the IGT-Verlag took over "Wik - Zeitschrift für die Sicherheit der Wirtschaft" (spelling: WIK) from SecuMedia Verlags GmbH. From the 3/2016 edition, the Wik will be integrated into the Protector as an independent title with the core areas of corporate protection and ASW news. Since then the magazine has been entitled " Protector & Wik ".
At the beginning of 2017, the IGT publishing house and mechatronics parted ways. The magazine has been published under a new publisher since January 1st, 2017. A new chapter begins for Protector & Wik in 2017 as well. Since April 1, 2017, the magazine has been published by Schlüterschen Verlagsgesellschaft GmbH & Co. KG , headquartered in Hanover.

mo - magazine for surface technology
Today's mo was founded in 1947 as "mo - metal surface". Since 2011, their objective of providing the entire surface industry with information on the surface treatment of metals, plastics, glass and wood has been made clear by the name change to "mo - magazine for surface technology". The mo appears 10 times a year with sections on wet and powder painting, electroplating, industrial plasma surface technology, cleaning and pretreatment, mechanical processing as well as measuring and testing technology. As a rule, three of these issues are specials on the occasion of trade fairs or on special topics. The circulation is currently 10,050 copies each. In addition, the reference work "mo Taschenbuch Oberflächentechnik", now in its third edition, provides information on all key topics in the surface industry.

Since 2012, the “Security Summit of German Business”, the so-called “Winter Conference”, has been held annually in March as a cooperation between IGT / Protector & Wik and the “Bavarian Association for Business Security eV (BVSW)” at Spitzingsee. For a total of two days, security officers from industry come together with decision-makers from science, politics and the police as well as manufacturers of security technology and jointly look for ways to meet today's security requirements. Scientific lectures on current topics, innovations and developments in the industry form the framework.
