iBooks Author is a program from Apple for the layout of electronic books for IOS and MacOS

In contrast to conventional desktop publishing programs for the print sector, the software enables multimedia content such as videos, photos, graphics and animations to be integrated into digital books. The user can publish his work in the iBooks Store directly from the program. The software is only available for macOS and is available free of charge from the Mac App Store .

The license agreements that allowed the publication of books created with iBooks Author only in the Apple iBooks Store caused controversy. A few days after the EULA was published, Apple specified the license agreements and made it clear that it was simply not allowed to sell the .ibooks file outside of the iBooks Store. The copyright remains with the author.
