IG Medien - print and paper, journalism and art

The industrial union media - printing and paper, journalism and art (IG Medien) was a union of the German trade union federation (DGB) with seat in Stuttgart .

It was created at the Conversion Congress in Hamburg on April 15, 1989 through the merger of IG Druck und Papier and the Art Union . As early as 1985, these two unions formed the IG Medien as a cartel union. Most recently it had around 178,000 members. In 2001, IG Medien was merged into the United Service Union (ver.di). Most of its members are organized here in Department 8.

As the successor to the magazine die feder, IG Medien published the magazine Publizistik & Kunst , which has been published since 1994 under the title M - Menschenmachen Medien . In addition to the print edition, it has also appeared on the Internet since 1996.
