iMex. México Interdisciplinario / Interdisciplinary Mexico is an interdisciplinary journal that was founded in 2011 and appears every six months. It is edited by Vittoria Borsò (Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf), Frank Leinen (Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf), Guido Rings (Anglia Ruskin University Cambridge) and Yasmin Temelli (Ruhr University Bochum) and is dedicated to the study of Mexico . The goal of iMex is to network the extremely fruitful Mexican research from different disciplines and thereby increase its visibility and academic impact. The focus is on: literary and cultural studies, history, communication studies, art history, media studies, philosophy, political science, law, sociolinguistics, sociology and economics.

Goal setting

The focus of the various disciplines, methodologies and perspectives is on the exploration of the cultural diversity of Mexico, both in terms of historical and contemporary phenomena, as well as on the investigation of the interrelationships resulting from these two areas. The networking of different approaches also includes comparative research, such as the study of the relationship between Mexico and the Latin American continent , the United States of America , Europe and Oceania .

subjects

The publication covers a broad spectrum of the social, political and cultural panorama of Mexico. For this purpose iMex relies on the discussion of current theoretical concepts and contemporary philosophical currents, whereby it would like to encourage new readings and critical discussions. The central themes of the magazine are the relationships between cultural, literary, political, social and economic phenomena and their consequences for Mexico from the pre-Columbian era to the present. The biannual editions are each dedicated to a specific topic, with the individual contributions generating a polyphony of different voices and opinions.

profile

iMex is a freely accessible online publication. It is characterized by two basic characteristics: the publication of articles in Spanish and English and the review of new publications in this research area. Each issue contains a dossier on a specific topic that has a specific focus and approach. The specialty of the publication lies in the combination of its profile and the choice of topics. The Internet publication iMex has set itself the goal of making scientific research in the field of Mexican studies more visible by addressing not only scientists and students but also a broad audience who are interested in Mexican culture and society.

Free availability

Since iMex is freely accessible on the Internet and also takes recently published sources into account, it is possible to form a continuously growing virtual community, so that research results on Mexican culture, politics and economy can be disseminated quickly and worldwide. With iMex, a platform for international scientific exchange has been created.
