Alexandre "Alex" Baron (born December 6, 1994 in Narbonne ) is a French racing driver .

Career

Baron began his motorsport career in karting in 2002 . He initially started in French kart championships. In 2009 he finished second in the French KF3 championship. In 2010 he reached third place in the French KF2 championship. In 2012 Baron switched to formula racing and competed in the French F4 championship. Baron won nine out of 14 races and became champion. In 2013 Baron initially got a place in the ART Junior Team . He drove eight races in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and four in the Northern European Formula Renault before losing his cockpit. He remained without points in both series.

Baron then moved to North America, where he contested the last four races of the season in the US F2000 National Championship for Afterburner Autosport . He drove as an unregistered driver and was not entitled to points. Baron won the first and the last race and finished third on the podium in another race. For 2014 Baron were offered full-time cockpits in the US F2000 National Championship and the Pro Mazda Championship due to these achievements , but he decided to switch to the Indy Lights at Belardi Auto Racing . In his fourth race, he finished second on the podium for the first time. After another podium placement, he won the ninth race of the season in Toronto . It was also his last race. At that time he was in fifth place in the drivers' standings. At the end of the season he was tenth overall while his teammate Gabby Chaves won the championship.
