NN Investment Partners (NN IP) is a global asset manager that offers bond , multi-asset and equity strategies as well as solutions in the area of ​​alternative credit / private debt. NN IP is part of the Dutch NN Group . NN stands for Nationale Nederlanden, the largest Dutch life insurer. NN IP is headquartered in The Hague and manages around 276 billion euros (as of December 31, 2019) assets under management for institutional investors , wholesale partners and private investors worldwide . NN IP employs around 1,000 people and is represented in 15 countries in Europe, the USA, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East. NN IP has had a branch in Germany since 2007.

history

NN Investment Partners was founded in 1994 under the name ING Investment Management when the NN Group was still part of the ING Group . After the financial crisis in 2008, ING had to part with its insurance and asset management business. The NN Group, which combines these two businesses, was listed on Euronext Amsterdam in 2014. In the following year, ING Investment Management was renamed NN Investment Partners.

Investing responsibly

In 2019, NN IP published its first Responsible Investing Report. He explains how the company integrates ESG criteria (environmental, social and governance criteria) into its investment process. According to this report, NN IP has incorporated ESG factors into 67% of its assets under management.

NN IP takes an active engagement approach. This also applies to companies that show controversial behavior with regard to sustainability . The aim of this engagement is to support the relevant companies in improving their ESG profile. One example that NN IP cites in this regard is the palm oil industry. NN IP has been a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) since 2019 .

Exclusion lists

NN IP excludes certain companies or fields of activity that are harmful to society and the environment from investments. These include u. a. Gambling, fur farming / processing, nuclear energy, oil sands, oil exploration in the Arctic, coal for energy generation and weapons.

NN IP offers actively managed bond, multi-asset and equity strategies as well as solutions in the area of ​​alternative credit / private debt. Two thirds of the company's AuM are in the fixed income segment. One focus here is on specialized fixed income products in the liquid and illiquid areas. The company has offered private debt strategies for over 15 years and emerging market bonds for more than 25 years . The company is also active in the rapidly growing green bond market.
