history

In the early 19th century, two cousins started a fire insurance company called De Nederlanden in the Dutch city of Zutphen . The company not only offered insurance, but also actively tried to prevent fires by founding a volunteer fire brigade . In 1845 the company's headquarters were relocated to The Hague and the company name was changed to De Nederlanden van 1845 .

In 1963 a merger took place with the company Nationale Levensverzekering-Bank , through which the Nationale-Nederlanden was finally founded.

In 1991 a merger with the NMB Postbank Groep was carried out in order to further expand the branch network . The new company traded under the name ING Groep (Internationale Nederlanden Groep) . In 2013, however, the part of the company that was once the Nationale-Nederlanden was spun off into the independent company NN Group .

On June 1, 2017, the NN Group took over the Dutch insurance company Delta Lloyd through its subsidiary NN Group Bidco BV for 2.5 billion euros.
