IQLANDIA

iQLANDIA is a science center in Liberec , which was opened on March 29, 2014. It builds on the tradition of iQPARK. The Liberec Science Center is divided into a total of ten exhibitions with around four hundred interactive exhibits. It has the first humanoid speech robot in the Czech Republic and a 3D planetarium. The main motto of iQLANDIA is: "You know what you don't know yet."

Exhibitions

iQLANDIA offers ten different exhibitions that show the world of science.

  • GeoLab is an exhibition that focuses on what it looks like inside our planet. The interactive exhibition area dedicated to the geology of the Czech Republic features caves with stalactites, rocks and minerals. Exhibits: seismograph
  • The water world with water games and experiments: There are water troughs, mills, pipes, machines, jets and even Niagara Falls .
  • GEO or Cosmonautium is an exhibition dedicated to the universe. There are exhibits like the space skateboard, the big bang simulator and much more.
  • Life or what can fire, water, earth, air. An earthquake simulator, a storm or a tornado fire are shown. The exhibition shows how people use the elements and how the elements show their destructive power.
  • TUL or the world of ideas and discoveries. The exhibition was prepared by the Technical University in Liberec, known for the development of nanotechnology. She answers questions like: What does her super-intelligent jacket look like? What are the extraordinary fluorescent and heat sensitive materials?
  • Man or the way into the depths of the human body. More than 80 sophisticated interactive exhibits are prepared on an area of ​​more than 600 m². In this exhibition, the most expensive exhibit of the center is shown - the speaking humanistic robot “Thespian”, which cost two and a half million crowns. The exhibition is divided into two parts - the human body and the human senses.
  • The exhibition: Sexuality or Everything About Adolescence, Love, Reproduction, Birth and Deviations is unique in the Czech Republic. Stylized in the womb and specially designed for young people from the age of twelve.
  • Science in the house or like things we use every day. The exhibition shows how a refrigerator , washing machine or toaster work. It is designed so that visitors walk through every room in the house.
  • Sound tower or hold your ears tight! The smallest, but artistically most elaborate exhibition in iQLANDIA offers music exhibits that make it easy for visitors to understand the basic principles of sound generation .
  • Czechs in the world or Czech inventions that have conquered the world. This exhibition shows the difficult path to great inventions and discoveries that Czechs brought into the world. A large space is also devoted to contemporary young scientific hopes.

4K planetarium

The planetarium , which was built in the dome at the top of the science center, has an extensive database with thousands of astronomical objects and shows: stars, constellations, planets, asteroids, planetary nebulae, comets , Messier objects and satellites. In addition to the unique projections about the secrets of the universe, there are also films about evolution , the decay of continents or about dinosaurs as well as commented live projections of the starry sky.

Program for the public

iQLANDIA organizes two main programs for the public - the Science Show, in which lecturers demonstrate various experiments to the public and conduct hooray workshops with them in the laboratory, where visitors can e.g. B. can produce perfume.

  • The Science Show is a scientific acting performance by lecturers. They show a range of popular educational experiences that engage the audience. They light fires with water or show what happens in the stomach when you eat mentos , etc.
  • Hurray to the laboratory! In the iQLANDIA laboratories, visitors can become scientists themselves. There are several thematic workshops, e.g. For example: the world under a microscope , the manufacture of perfumes , the secret of the invisible ink, the miracle of the cyanotype .
