ISO 10487
The ISO 10487 is an ISO standard for standardizing the connection plug for the car radio and other audio equipment in the vehicle .
standard
The ISO 10487 standard defines the connectors and their contact assignment in Part 1 of 1992, and Part 2 of 1995 their electrical requirements.
plug
The connector is used in many vehicle models and is usually referred to as an ISO connector for short .

Block A: Manufacturer-specific contact assignments
However, some radio and car manufacturers use their own contact assignments, in particular terminals 15 ( ignition plus ) and 30 ( permanent plus ) are often interchanged. This can be seen in the fact that the radio cannot be switched on when the ignition is switched off and the settings are lost.

Block C: extensions
Segmented in C1-C3 - sometimes also individually - in the colors yellow, green and blue
Many radios have the expansion block, which is divided into three segments.
- C1 (yellow plug): The four preamplifier signals for operating an output stage are available here. A control line is also available to switch the output stage on and off.
- C2 (green plug): Often used to connect a speakerphone or remote control. In hands-free mode, the conversation can also be played back via the car radio in addition to mute the radio.
- C3 (blue connector): Commonly used for using a CD changer. USB devices (USB stick, SD card, external hard drives) can now also be used as CD changers using a special adapter. With some devices, the TMC signal is also made available for external navigation devices.
