ISO 3951-1

The ISO 3951 method for sample testing using quantitative characteristics (variable inspection) is a ISO - standard in the quality control to the measurement of the variable test features, which are also referred to as measured inspection. This means that in contrast to other standards such as B. ISO 2859 the focus of ISO 3951 is on the recording of dimensions, weights, etc. In contrast to the ISO 2859 mentioned above, the K-factor is also taken into account in ISO 3951 . This records the scatter behavior of the test results within the specified tolerances. As a result, a quality check can turn out to be negative, although all recorded data is within the specified tolerances.

The standard currently (as of January 2013) consists of five parts:

  • Part 1: Simple sampling plans for lot-wise testing, arranged according to the acceptable quality limit, AQL - simple quality characteristic and simple AQL, current edition 2005-04, new draft 2012-02
  • Part 2: General specification for single sampling instructions, arranged according to the Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) for testing independent quality characteristics in lots, current edition 2006-04, new draft 2012-02
  • Part 3: Double sampling plans for lot-wise testing, sorted according to the acceptable quality limit (AQL), current edition 2007-05
  • Part 4: Procedure for the assessment of declared quality limits, current edition 2011-08
  • Part 5: System of sequential sampling instructions, ordered according to the acceptable quality limit (AQL) for lot-wise testing - independent quality characteristics, current edition 2006-03

Part 1 of ISO 3951 is available in Germany as DIN standard DIN ISO 3951-1: 2008-03.
