IS Göta

IS Göta (Idrottssällskapet Göta) is a Swedish sports club from Helsingborg . Bowling , athletics , inline skating and tennis are currently offered.

The association was founded in 1898. The historical roots of the association lie in the Gamla Göta association founded in 1896 . Originally it was mainly athletics. In 1931, a women's department was added to the existing men's department. The home of the club was the Olympia stadium , which at that time still had a career.

Athletics always remained the focus of the club. Hans Liljekvist and Tage Ekfeldt were among the top athletes . Bandy has also been played in the club since 1924, and in 1950 this department became the ice hockey department ; In 1977 the department became independent under the name Helsingborgs Hockeyklubb .

The club has had a handball department since 1925 . The men became Swedish champions in the 1965/66 season. In 1981 the handball department was given up.
