The International College of Tourism and Management (ITM) is a private university based in Bad Vöslau , Lower Austria .

history

ITM was founded in 1986 under the name "International Institute of Tourism and Management" as a private college with public rights in Semmering. It was the first tourism college in Austria to introduce English as the language of instruction. The founding intention of ITM was the international knowledge transfer of Austrian tourism know-how. Another ITM college existed from 1992 to 1996 in Krems an der Donau . The Tourismuskolleg has existed as the International College of Tourism and Management since 2005 . In autumn 2009 the ITM relocated to Bad Vöslau.

University

The university is a 2-year international tourism college and offers a 4-semester course in hotel and tourism management . Due to the high proportion of international students and the multicultural nature of the tourism industry, the language of instruction is English. The training focus of the college program is the acquisition of management and foreign language skills (English, German, Spanish) as well as practical know-how.

The College Garden Hotel is a student-run hotel where students learn their practical experience of dealing with "real" guests. In the 2nd and 3rd semester, students have to complete a 13-week compulsory internship in a tourism-related company of their choice in Germany or abroad. The internship is an essential part of the training, in which the students gain work experience and improve their practical and organizational skills. After successfully completing the college training, the students receive the Austrian diploma and the professional title of "tourism clerk".

The graduates then have two options: to enter the profession straight away or to continue studying at the ITM partner universities in Europe, the USA or Australia to obtain a Bachelor's degree .

The ITM works with various partner universities in Europe, the USA and Australia. Around 1800 students (as of 2020) have graduated from the university since 1986.
