History and construction

IVL K.1 Kurki was the prototype for a four-seat training aircraft designed by IVL in 1927. The designer Asser Järvinen designed the aircraft as a shoulder-wing aircraft with an open cockpit and tail wheel landing gear. The aircraft took off on its maiden flight on March 30, 1927. Only a prototype was built because the aircraft was too heavy and therefore had poor flight characteristics. The Finnish Air Force tested the machine and only flew 13 hours.
