The parish church of St. Michael in the Schwäbisch Gmünder district of Weiler in the mountains is a late Romanesque , Roman Catholic church in the deanery Ostalb . It is dedicated to the Archangel Michael .

history

The village church dates from the first quarter of the 13th century. The choir tower church was first mentioned in 1408, but the parish was mentioned as early as 1358. On August 7, 1413, the patronage passed to the Gmünder Spital through Hermann Vyerabend .

The first reliably dated building project took place in 1426/27. The tower got a half-timbered structure . The nave was expanded in the 18th century . At the beginning of the 20th century the church was considered too small. It was initially not found to be expandable and a new building was sought. Nevertheless, in 1946 an expansion was made according to plans by Albert Hänle , which resulted in a reorientation of the choir .

From 1983 to 1985 the interior of the church was restored.
