Predecessor St. Bernhard
The previous building, St. Bernhard, was built in 1496/1497 and consecrated on July 5, 1497. Initially only about 8 m long, the chapel was lengthened and raised to 11.7 m in 1670. It was a hall building with a polygon choir . A roof turret was attached to the approach to the choir . When it was demolished in 1900, its peal consisted of a bell from 1412 from Esslingen am Neckar and a bell from 1884 from Heinrich Kurtz from Stuttgart. Both bells were transferred to Kochendorf, where they were melted down for the new ringing.
In place of the chapel, a wall corner with a memorial bell reminds us today .
