St. Alban (Herlikofen)
St. Alban (also St. Albanus ) is a Catholic parish church in the Schwäbisch Gmünder district of Herlikofen in the so-called Kameralamtsstil .
history
The first church in Herlikofen was mentioned in 1349. She belonged to the parish of Iggingen . In 1452 a new choir tower church was built . Before Herlikofen was raised to a parish in 1823, the Gmünd Dominicans took over pastoral care. The new building took place in 1835, with the current church being erected. In August 1836 the first service was held in the church. The church was consecrated only in 1840 by the Rottenburg bishop Johann Baptist von Keller . In 1912 the church was extended by 8 m on the east side and got its current choir and tower. The consecration was again delayed, namely on May 29, 1917. Restorations were carried out in 1958, 1963 and 1997.
Furnishing
The hall church with the choir side tower and sacristy extension has an interior molding ceiling and windows in the nave designed by Otto Eberle and manufactured by Sternbacher in Unterkochen in 1960 . The high altar dates from 1743, the side altars St. Maria and St. Alban date from 1750. The altar leaves are said to come from the Gmünder Münster . Of the numerous figures, St. Apollonia from 1510 is the oldest. The crucifix from the early 18th century supposedly comes from the Gmünder Spital .
Peal
The first ringing with bells, some from the 17th century, was delivered in the First World War in 1917, and in 1942 in the Second World War the second ringing except for one bell.
