The Franciscan Sisters of Eternal Adoration are a Roman Catholic women's order with a motherhouse in Schwäbisch Gmünd .

In 1898, Pastor Konrad Kirchner founded the “Episcopal Communicant Institute” of the Rottenburg diocese . With the help of a foundation from the widow Mrs. Agnes Philippine Walter, the St. Canisius House in Schwäbisch Gmünd was inaugurated for this society in 1902. Catholic children from the diaspora were taught religion here. The Sisters of Charity from the Untermarchtal Monastery helped . Soon a small place by Agnes Walter Tertiaries Association of together, the perpetual adoration introduced and vestments anfertigte for the Diaspora churches. In 1903 the Brotherhood of Perpetual Adoration of the Sacrament of the Blessed Sacrament and the Work of Love for poor churches was affiliated to the Brotherhood of the same name in Rome.

In 1921 this brotherhood was transformed by the bishop into a congregation of the Third Order of St. Francis , from then on the sisters also wore a religious dress . In 1931 the congregation was canonically recognized and aggregated to the Franciscan Order.

The former communication institute gradually transformed into a children's home with a primary school. The community established several branches in the area. During the Nazi era, the St. Canisius House was forcibly closed. After the war, the sisters and children returned and the house developed into a modern youth welfare facility.

The main task of the sisters is to worship the Most Holy. In addition, they make church linen and paraments, devote themselves to education in kindergartens, homes and elementary schools and run old people's and nursing homes. The sisters also work in outpatient nursing. There are several branches within the Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart.

Since 1990, the sisters' facilities have been gradually transferred to other sponsorships in order to secure their future because the sister community has little offspring. The interweaving of the parent company and the facility was lifted by a new building that began in 1997, which again enables the necessary quiet and seclusion for the community. In 2000 the new monastery church and the new monastery, designed by the German architect Gisberth M. Hülsmann , were consecrated. The monastery "is a place of encounter with God, a place of the message of a common life before God".
