Ian Jenkins (politician)

Ian Jenkins (* in Rothesay ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Liberal Democrats .

Jenkins was a teacher at Clydebank High School in Clydebank between 1964 and 1970 and then switched to teaching English at Peebles High School in Peebles, southern Scotland .

Political career

In the 1970s, Jenkins joined the Liberal Party , which in 1988 merged with the Social Democratic Party to form the Liberal Democrats. In the first Scottish general election in 1999, Jenkins ran for the direct mandate of the constituency of Tweeddale, Ettrick and Lauderdale . He received the largest share of the vote by a clear margin and thus entered the newly created Scottish Parliament . During this time he was party spokesman for the Liberal Democrats on education. At the 2003 parliamentary elections Jenkins has not raced for more and different to the end of the legislature from the parliament from.
