The Ibach House is a red brick industrial building built in the 19th century in Schwelm in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The oldest piano factory in the world was located here. The production of the keyboard instruments last only used a small part of the large building and was finally discontinued at the end of 2007. After several months of modernization, the old production halls have been used as an event location since 2006. The event hall with stage offers space for up to 400 people.

history

The Ibach House was built in the middle of the 19th century by the brothers Gustav and Friedrich Büsche and acquired in 1884 by PA Rudolf Ibach , who wanted to expand his piano business. Pianos were produced there until the end of 2007, although the factory buildings had been owned by Vits Vermögensverwaltung GbR since 1988 . The building is rented out in parts, currently seven out of twenty tenants belong to the creative industry (communication, advertising, entertainment, fashion and design companies). The Piano Manufacturing Co., Ltd. organized as one of the users and the rental of modernized factory buildings. The building features restored columns, stitch cap ceilings, and portraits of famous pianists and composers.

Events

The Kulturfabrik Ibach-Haus association of the same name is also located in the Ibach-Haus . It organizes cultural events in the Piano Manufactory on the ground floor of the Ibach-Haus, which was already where Justus Frantz and Konrad Beikircher performed .
