Ice Age Adventure was a themed ride in Movie Park Germany based on the Ice Age film series . At the end of 2016, the closure of the attraction was announced due to an expired license, which is why the attraction will no longer be operational from 2017. It was opened in 1996 with the former Looney Tunes theme ("Looney Tunes Adventure") and later re -themed as a consequence of the Warner license losses.
In this water tour you went through some scenes with the famous Ice Age characters. These were not based directly on the film, but told their own story of a volcanic eruption in the valley. The original voices around Otto Waalkes and others could not be used. In small boats with about 12 to 14 places you drove through the scenes and down a descent. The attraction was closed in 2016 after several defects in the figures and peeling paint. The whereabouts of the scenes, some animatronics and the hall is not known. The tent in the waiting area is still there and has been used as a picnic area since the start of the 2017 season . Some well-preserved animatronics have also been in the Roxy 4D cinema next to old exhibits from the former Hollywood Film Museum since the beginning of the 2017 season.
Since the 2017 season, former boats from the attraction have been used in another attraction from the manufacturer Intamin . This facility is Bermuda Triangle: Alien Encounter . This is also located in Movie Park Germany. The boats were supplemented by belly bars in order to meet safety standards. The boats from the Ice Age Adventure attraction stand out from the other boats in the Bermuda Triangle: Alien Encounter because of their different wooden paneling . In addition, these do not have any lettering like their comparison objects.
The reason for the relocation of the boats was that the Bermuda Triangle: Alien Encounter was to have a higher capacity . The fact that the attraction had not been operational since the end of the 2016 season was also a key aspect of the relocation.
Since the 2018 season, the hall of the former attraction, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Halloween event ("HALLOWEEN HORROR FESTIVAL"), for the Maze Wrong Turn of the film production of the same name, from 2003, has not been themed. The old tent, which was equipped with cars from the Streets Of New York or the former Marienhof , was used as the waiting area for the Maze . The already existing forest scenery was supplemented by a gas station , ranger office and hotel .
Are special features of this maze that one with externally controlled LED - Gas lamp (see Alton Towers ) runs through the former ride trough. This is also the first maze in monster- free Nickland .
In addition, animatronics from the former Ice Age Adventure attraction were used in the outdoor Maze Circus of Freaks .
Year-round use or further redesign of the hall is not planned before the 2021/2022 season, says Marketing Director Manuel Prossotowics.
