The Icelandair Group is an Icelandic group of companies based in the capital Reykjavík . The basis of business is the operation of airlines and related services in tourism . The company is part of the OMX Iceland 8 index.

In 2015 the group had 3,384 employees and generated sales of 1.1 billion US dollars . 3.7 million passengers were transported domestically, to 16 destinations in North America and 27 in Europe .

On November 5, 2018, the Icelandair Group announced that it would take over all shares from competitor WOW air . The two airlines should, however, maintain their own market presence. In the same month, the project was rejected again. WOW air went bankrupt in 2019 and ceased flight operations.
