Icon & The Black Roses are a dark rock music group from Portugal founded in 1999 .

history

In 1999 the singer João Silva ( Johnny Icon ) founded the band Blue Obsession . They played the demo 4 Winter Songs and used it to apply to several record companies in Europe until they were signed by Dark-Wings Records . After a few changes in the membership of the band, it was renamed Icon . A completed 5-song EP that was supposed to be released in Germany was ultimately not released because the record company preferred a full-fledged album. One of these was recorded in Lisbon and released across Europe under the final band name in 2004. The trade press welcomed this album and made comparisons with the Finnish band HIM . In early 2005, however, the formation surprisingly announced its breakup. The band members played in other groups from then on.

Six years later, at the end of 2011, the band announced on their Myspace page that the band had reunited and were working together on a new album, which will be called Thorns .
