Ida Gotkovsky

Ida Rose Esther Gotkovsky (born August 26, 1933 in Calais , France ) is a French composer and pianist .

Life

Ida Gotkowsky is the daughter of the violinist Jacques Gotkovsky and grew up in a musical environment. She studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris with Nadia Boulanger , Olivier Messiaen and Tony Aubin . She taught composition in Texas, United States. Their reputation quickly went beyond the borders of France.

Her compositions are performed worldwide, especially in the United States of America, Japan, Korea, Australia and Russia. She receives invitations to workshops and to chair juries for competitions. Her musical credo is to create a work of art that is universal and, in a strict contemporary language, contributes to a unity of musical expression in all times.

She received many awards and coveted prizes for her compositions: Lili Boulanger Prize, Blumenthal Prize, First Prize in the Pasdeloup Referendum , International Prize from Divonne les Bains , Médaille de la Ville de Paris , Grand Prix musical de la Ville de Paris, Golden Rose (UNITED STATES).
