The IDEAL life insurance a. G. is an independent mutual insurance association from Berlin. It was the first insurer in Germany to introduce private long-term care pension insurance and is still the market leader in this area today. The products are sold equally through independent brokers, other primary insurers and banks as well as online in direct business. The company has around 290 employees in the group. Around 10,000 independent sales partners work together with IDEAL. IDEAL Versicherung offers life , accident and property insurance .
History and Development
1913 Founding as the “Volks- Feuerbestattungsverein Groß-Berlin VV a. G. “in Berlin-Neukölln , initially exclusively granting benefits in kind.
1925 Outsourcing of funeral services and introduction of cash insurance, foundation of the "Gemeinnützige Bestattungsgesellschaft mbH" (GBG)
1933 Founding of the "Neue Deutsche Bestattungskasse", compulsory change of name to "Vaterländische Volksversicherung insurance association on mutuality in Berlin"
1960 Participation in the company "Julius Grieneisen Erd- und Feuerbestattungen, founded 1830" in Berlin-Schöneberg
1962 Merger of the “Volks-Feuerbestattung VV a. G. "and" Old Patriotic Life Insurance a. G. "and name change to" IDEAL life insurance a. G."
1986 Founding of IDEAL Versicherung Aktiengesellschaft in order to be able to offer self-developed accident insurance to the insured community.
1998 Foundation of Ahorn-Grieneisen AG with financial participation of IDEAL.
2002 New strategic direction of the IDEAL insurance group. With the introduction of supplementary long-term care insurance , the expansion of the provision concepts for the 50+ generation begins. For the first time, senior products from IDEAL are being sold through other primary insurers.
2003 One hundred percent takeover of Ahorn-Grieneisen AG, one of the largest German funeral directors . Ahorn-Grieneisen is expanding its market presence with the acquisition of the Denk Griefhilfe.
2005 IDEAL also becomes active as a property insurer. In the same year the Regnum Volksbestattung GmbH was founded as an online broker for funerals.
2006 Participation of 25 percent plus one share in the Deutscher Mieterbund Rechtsschutz-Versicherung (DMB), which was founded in 1982 on the initiative of the German Tenants' Association. Since December 31, 2008, this cooperation has been terminated by mutual agreement, so that IDEAL is no longer involved in DMB.

Companies and investments of the IDEAL Group

criticism
In February 2007, in a television report by the rbb, the problem was raised that customers who take out funeral insurance with the IDEAL insurance group are automatically bound to a funeral contract with Ahorn-Grieneisen AG. The ZDF magazine WISO took up the problem again in June 2007 in an article.
