Idel'son is an impact crater on the back of the moon near the South Pole . It is located southwest of Schrödinger . Its northern edge is covered by the larger Ganswindt crater .

This lunar crater was named in 1970 by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) after the Soviet astronomer, physicist and mathematician Naum Ilyich Idel'son (1885–1951).
