Idel-Ural ( Tatar for Volga - Ural ) is a historical region in Eastern Europe , in present-day Russia , that includes the territory of Tatarstan and Bashkortostan . In Tatar-language literature, the term is used for the area of the six republics of Chuvashia , Mari El , Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Mordovia and Udmurtia .
