The idol of Pomos is a Chalcolithic female figure made of picrolite ( manganese - iron - silicate ). The raw material probably comes from the valleys of the Karyotis and Kouris .

It depicts a woman with her arms outstretched and legs bent and an identical idol around her neck. Several specimens were found near the village of Pomos in Cyprus and exhibited in the Cyprus Museum in Nicosia . Its age is set at 5000 years, it is believed that it is a fertility symbol. Since they are evidence of a culture that was only widespread in Cyprus, they are shown on the Cypriot 1 and 2 euro coins .
