The Idoma is an official language spoken by over half a million people in central Nigeria . She is numerically the strongest representative of the idomoid languages , which is why the language group was named after her.
The language has an official status insofar as it is only used in Nigeria for adult education for literacy programs. The only official language in Nigeria is English .
In addition, the language should be used officially in primary education. It is also used on some radio programs and, to a far lesser extent, on television.
