Igloolik Isuma Productions

Igloolik Isuma Productions (founded in 1990 in Iglulik ) is a Canadian production company made up of members Zacharias Kunuk , Paul Apak Angilirq , Pauloosie Qulitalik and Norman Cohn . They produce independent “community based” media - video, sound carriers, television and also appearances on the Internet with the aim of preserving and strengthening the language and culture of the Inuit.

Nunavut (Our Land) was produced between 1994 and 1995 and is an "Inuit soap opera" consisting of 13 half-hour parts set in 1945. It is both a documentary and a feature film, showing a younger generation how things were done (and can still be done). Everyday life is shown, from training the dogs and the skill of building an igloo or stone house to hunting seals, walruses and caribou.

The television series Nunavut (Our Land) and the feature film Atanarjuat - The legend of the fast runner were shown at Documenta 11 .
