Ignacio José de Macedo

Ignacio José de Macedo (* 1774 in Porto ; † February 17, 1834 ibid) was a Portuguese Catholic clergyman.

Macedo came to Bahia (Brazil) at the age of eight . There he joined the Presbyterians and was soon appointed professor of philosophy. During this time he also edited the city's first newspaper, A Idade de ouro . After the proclamation of Brazil's independence, he returned to Portugal in 1823 and became editor of the Velho liberal do Douro .
