Igor Chmela (born January 2, 1971 in Ostrava , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech actor .

Life

After graduating from school, Igor Chmela trained as a railway technician from 1985 to 1989 in Letohrad . After two years of military service, he began to study acting at the theater faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague in 1992 , which he successfully completed in 1996. He then immediately found work at the Národní divadlo , where he stayed until 1999. From 1999 to 2011 he was employed at the Dejvické divadlo and from 2002 to 2013 he played regularly at the Divadlo Na zábradlí .

As an actor for film and television productions, Chmela has been seen regularly since 2004. In the German-speaking countries he was seen in the three films Der Rote Baron , Die Karamazows and Die Kinder der Nacht , released in 2008 . For his portrayal in Roberta Sedláčka's comedy Největší z Čechů , Chmela was nominated for the Czech film prize Český lev for Best Supporting Actor in 2010 .

Chmela is married to the actress Jana Janěková . The couple have three children together.
