The Atlético Petróleos Luanda from the capital Luanda won the championship for the first time. Primeiro de Maio from Benguela was the Angolan cup winner . The two did not meet in a Supercup , the Angolan Supercup was first played in 1985.
Mainly due to the turmoil and destruction of the Angolan civil war (1975-2002) only some key dates of the season are recorded. For example, the champions Petro Luanda defeated the cup winner Primeiro de Maio 6-2 in the first leg at home in the league, while they separated 1: 1 in the second leg. The only other individual result recorded is the 3-0 home win of Petro Luanda against GD Sagrada Esperança from Dundo .
Petro Luanda was Angolan champion at the end and therefore took part in the preliminary round of the African Cup of Champions Club in 1983.
