The Girabola 2009 was the 31st season of the Girabola , the highest Angolan league in football . 14 teams took part, each of which competed against each other twice. The season began on February 21st and ended on October 25th, 2009. Record champions Atlético Petróleos Luanda from the capital Luanda celebrated the title as in the previous year, making it his 15th national championship.

Since the Angolan football association FAF had decided to increase the Girabola to 16 teams, only one club was relegated in 2009.
