The 1980 Girabola was the second season of the Girabola , the top division of football in Angola . 14 teams took part, each of which competed against each other twice. The season started in February and ended in November 1980.

The 1980 season was the first regular league championship in Angola, which had only become independent in 1975 . Its football association, the Federação Angolana de Futebol (FAF), founded in 1979 , had reintroduced league operations in the country with the 1979 season . The final season of the Angolan League under Portuguese colonial administration took place in 1975. However, it could not be ended after the outbreak of the Angolan civil war that year.

Primeiro de Agosto from the capital Luanda won the young Angolan championship for the second time in a row in 1980, Nacional de Benguela was the first Angolan cup winner .
