Académica Petróleos Clube do Lobito , usually just called AC Lobito , is a football club from the Angolan port city of Lobito . It was founded on March 17, 1970 by Portuguese in what was then the Portuguese colony of Angola.

The club welcomes its guests in the 15,000-seat Estádio do Buraco . The professional league Girabola specifies the stadium's capacity for league games at 3,000.

AC Lobito finished the 2014 season as champions of Angola's second division, the Gira Angola . As a result, he returned to the top division of Angola, the professional league Girabola . From 2000 to 2005 the AC Lobito already played in Girabola, where he achieved his best placement with 4th place in 2001. In 2009 he played again in the first division, but rose again in 14th place. The club has not yet been able to win national titles.

In addition to men's and women's football, the club also operates departments for other sports, in particular handball, chess, and roller hockey , which is relatively popular in Angola (as of December 2014).
