Clube Nacional de Benguela is a football club from the city of Benguela . His club logo is an elephant, his club colors are black and white stripes.
history
The club was founded in 1920 as Sports Clube Portugal de Benguela . He won the championship of the Portuguese overseas province of Angola in 1952, 1959, 1960, 1961 and 1964.
Even before Angola's independence from Portugal, the association took on its current name in 1973. The greatest success of the club after independence in 1975 was the 1980 cup victory , the Taça de Angola . Even though the competition was not yet official, the club qualified for the African Cup Winners' Cup in 1981 . But there they lost their two games very clearly and were eliminated in the first round. In 1979 they were in the final of Luanda for the Angolan championship, but lost it just 1: 2 against CD Primeiro de Agosto . After a weaker phase with relegation, they rose again for the 2012 season in the highest Angolan league, the Girabola . The club then ended the season in last place (16th) and was relegated again.
