The Girabola 1989 was the 11th season of Girabola , the top division of football in Angola . 14 teams took part, each of which had to compete against each other twice. Presumably due to the turmoil and destruction of the Angolan civil war (1975–2002), hardly any data are recorded for the season and no detailed final table has been preserved.
Desportivo Cuca's striker André was the top scorer with 18 goals .
The Petro Luanda from the capital Luanda won his fourth national championship in direct succession and took part in the preliminary round of the African Cup of Champions Club in 1990. Ferroviário Huíla from Lubango won the Angolan Cup for the second time and qualified for the preliminary round of the African Cup Winners' Cup 1990.
The Angolan Supercup was, like, not be held in the previous year.
There were no promotions or relegations at the end of the season.
In addition, some clubs returned after the season to their original names, which they had dropped after the country's independence from Portugal in 1975 as branches of the Portuguese clubs Sporting Lisbon and Benfica Lisbon .
