It was built according to plans by the architect António Freitas Leal in the northern center of the village and inaugurated in 1956. The church ( igreja is Portuguese for church) is consecrated to St. Anthony of Lisbon .

The church was planned by António Freitas Leal and Father João de Almeida from 1953, 15 years after Moscavide was raised to its own freguesia . In its architectural design it follows the ideas of liturgical renewal . Several new generation artists were involved in its creation.

Above the main portal is a 7 × 14 meter panel made of azulejos designed by Manuel Cargaleiro . Lagoa Henriques created a statue of St. Anthony. To the west of the church is a free-standing bell tower.
