Ihuru is an island in the Maldives . It is located in the west of the North Malé Atoll , approx. 18 kilometers from the Maldivian capital (main island) Malé .
The island is almost circular and less than 200 meters in diameter. The highest point rises only three meters above sea level .
The tourism is the main source of income of the locals, because the sea around Ihuru is very rich in fish and therefore particularly among divers very well known. The people of Ihuru have been campaigning for environmental protection for many years . So one was in 1996 Biorock - coral reef by the German architect Wolf Hilbertz created.
