Iconometer
An iconometer , also called frame finder , picture knife , cutout knife , later also called sports finder , is a device for dividing the picture for handheld cameras .
description
The iconometer consists of a metal rod with millimeter graduation, on which a small frame is slidably mounted on a rider. One end has a small disc with an opening ( diopter ). If you look through the opening and the frame, you can see the desired image section.
The size of the frame cutout and the distance between the sight hole and the frame must be set beforehand on the metal rod according to the focal length and the angle of view of the lens used.
Fold-out frame finders were later installed directly on the handheld cameras.
