Ilona Tröls-Holzweber (born February 10, 1963 ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and special education teacher. From 2013 to 2018 she was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament .

education and profession

Tröls-Holzweber attended elementary and secondary school and the BORG St. Pölten where she graduated in 1981. She then studied at the Pedagogical Academy in Krems an der Donau . There she completed an apprenticeship as a special school teacher for general special schools and special schools for severely disabled children. Furthermore, she is a teacher for the special school for children with increased socio-emotional needs, speech therapy teacher and counseling teacher.

Tröls-Holzweber has been working as a special education teacher at the SPZ ASO Nord since 1987, most recently teaching in a special education class for children with increased socio-emotional needs. She also works as a reviewer for this educational area in the St. Pölten Stadt district. In 1995 she took on the role of deputy director at the SPZ ASO Nord. Since 2009 she has also been teaching at the Church of Education University Krems in the training to become a special school teacher.

Politics and functions

After Tröls-Holzweber joined the SPÖ in 1985, she also became a member of the FSG in 1987. In 1990 she also joined Section 10 of the SPÖ St. Pölten and became its women's representative in 1992. She also joined the SPÖ women under Adelheid Praher and became a member of Kinderfreunde and the SLÖ in 1992. After she had to interrupt her political work between 1999 and 2005 for personal and family reasons, after her re-entry she became deputy chairwoman of section 10, treasurer of the children's friends of section 10 and again women's representative of section 10. In 2008 she switched to the SPÖ local group Gerersdorf and in the same year took over the office of secretary and deputy chairwoman. In 2010 she was elected councilor in Gerersdorf, and has been an executive councilor since 2011. In 2011, she also took over the role of chairwoman of the Gerersdorf local group and is chairwoman of the environmental committee and local environmental councilor. She was sworn in as a member of the state parliament on April 24, 2013. After the state elections in Lower Austria in 2018 , she left the state parliament.

Tröls-Holzweber is also a social ombudswoman in Gerersdorf and a member of the control committee of the SPÖ Lower Austria. Since 2008 she has been managing director of the AMPEL youth counseling center in St. Pölten and chairwoman of the Ampel association for young people and the socially disadvantaged. Since 2010 she has also been deputy chairman of the St. Pölten town choir.

Private

Ilona Tröls-Holzweber is married and has a son and a daughter. She lives in Gerersdorf .
