Ilyas El Omari

Ilyas El Omari (* 1967 in Beni Bouayach ) is a Moroccan politician and general secretary of the Party of Authenticity and Modernity (PAM). He is also President of the Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma region, one of the 12 regions in Morocco that came into being after an administrative reform in 2015 .

At a congress in January 2016, Ilyas El Omari was elected as the party's new general secretary. Under his leadership, the PAM became the second strongest force with 102 seats in the 2016 parliamentary elections in Morocco . He applied for his replacement as early as 2017, and was ultimately replaced by Hakim Benchamach at a proper party congress on May 26, 2018 .
