In the Krapfenwald'l is a polka française by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 336). The work was first performed on September 6, 1869 in Pavlovsk , Russia.

Remarks

The polka was created in the summer of 1869 during the composer's trip to Russia. Inspired by the impressions of a few walks in the forest, Strauss wrote this work under the title Im Pawlowsk-Walde . The successful world premiere took place with a Russian orchestra on September 6, 1869. In Vienna, the work was only performed on June 25, 1870 by Eduard Strauss at a concert in the Volksgarten . However, the title had now been changed. Since then, the polka has been known as Im Krapfenwald'l . The new name referred to an inn in the Vienna Woods. To a certain extent, Strauss relocated the musical interpretation of the forest from the Russian forests to the Vienna Woods. This did nothing to reduce the success of the piece, which is still popular today.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 3 minutes and 52 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
