The Immortal Bach Ensemble (IBE) is a choir in Bonn and was founded in 2004.

The independent, professional vocal ensemble based in Bonn is characterized by a homogeneous and dynamic sound. Its ambitious, hand-picked members sing in changing line-ups from double quartet to multi-choir and chamber choir, and solo roles are often cast from within the ensemble.

The choir bears the artistic signature of its Danish conductor Morten Schuldt-Jensen , who carefully shaped the ensemble into a unique ensemble. The ensemble has its roots in the Gewandhaus in Leipzig ; In 2001, the choir director Schuldt-Jensen founded the Leipzig Gewandhaus Chamber Choir, which lasted until 2006.

The work Immortal Bach by the Norwegian composer Knut Nystedt has accompanied both the Gewandhaus Chamber Choir and the Immortal Bach Ensemble at important stages of its development and has thus become the eponym:

Immortal Bach is a Bach chorale that is fanned out into different time layers - and thus stands for the artistic credo of the ensemble: The IBE wants to combine old and new and open up unfamiliar paths and perspectives at a high artistic level. Since its inception, the ensemble has participated in international festivals such as u. a. performed at the Rheingau Music Festival, the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Festival, the Europa Bach Festival Paris. In addition to extensive concert activities in Europe, the Immortal Bach Ensemble has recorded a number of highly acclaimed CDs on the Naxos label.

Together, Schuldt-Jensen and the Immortal Bach Ensemble are enthusiastic and always on the lookout for authentic timbres and the structures of the music.
